Every administrator has already knew the need to add quickly a router to his list of monitored equipement to provide his boss with graphs of a network failure. So you all know how it's painfull and pretty long to reconfigure mrtg/RRDtool that's why Grillon is born.

Grillon is a web interface that ease monitoring of network equipment. Monitoring is based on mrtg/RRDtool software collection.

Grillon is a collection of php scripts which do the configuration of mrtg/RRDTool tools. Mrtg is used to poll the equipments and RRDTool is used to store all the datas (polls results) and to generate the graphs oh demand.
Grillon is known to work with Apache under Linux with the mod_php module.

All you have to do is just to fill in web forms. This will automatically configure and personalize the whole bunch of mrtg/RRDTool scripts and store in a MySQL database all data related to your equipments (with other data like groups and OIDs).

This will also configure crontab to regularly monitor equipments, storing the results into a RRDtool database.

Then, thanks to the mrtg scripts, you will be able to visualize the results in Grillon web interface.

In a word, Grillon is definitively made to ease and speed up configuration of network equipment monitoring.
